Colonia Routs J.P Stevens

January 9, 2016 the Colonia Patriots left their house pleased Saturday as they beat the J.P. Stevens Hawks 44-30. Colonia upgraded its record to 5-2 and host South Plainfield Tigers. J.P Stevens entered the game at 3-2 and left 3-3.

Colonia’s leading scorer was Chase Barneys with 16 points closely followed by his teammate Kolby Chappman who had 14 points. J.P Stevens’ leading scorer was Mike Lionikis with 14 points.

Colonia got the lead on the second possession and never looked back. They led 28-13 going into the half and kept it at full throttle for the rest of the game. Colonia played great defense in the first half contesting every shot and keeping the pressure on the Hawks.

Kolby Chappman said, “It was a hard fought game to the end, not making any forced turnovers and taking only good shots helped us win. Very happy to come out with the W,” when he was asked what were the keys to victory.

In the second half the Patriots settled down and played with the lead, not forcing many bad shots on offense and using the clock to their advantage. On the defensive side Colonia kept the pressure on and did not let J.P Stevens get back into the game. The crowd was loud and very encouraging for the Patriots leading them to victory.
