Notorious aired on September 22, 2016 on ABC. With the first episode hit 5 million views. Sadly leaving viewers with a terrible taste in their mouths.
The anticipated crime drama hit the air with high hopes. With its new look behind the stereotypical “crime drama.” Notorious is about Julia George (Piper Perabo) An Executive producer for the Louise Herrick Live a daily evening news station. Julia close friend Jake Gregorian (Daniel Sunjata) a lawyer, for a big time CEO, Oscar Keaton. Oscar, a newly reformed himself from his drug induced life. Jack helps Julia by giving her fresh exclusives for her news station. Julia returns the favor by helping Jack out with directing the public to favor his clients.
In theory, Notorious could be a 4 out of 5 stars, but this isn’t the matrix and we do live in the real world. Making this show is a an absolute flop. Rotten Tomatoes released a rating of 2.5 stars, and a 25% out of a 100% on satisfaction, Notorious is offensive to women and has way too many storylines in one episode. With four different storylines to follow Notorious become to confusing to watch, making it not worth the effort.
Notorious will speak to fans of jam packed episodes, full of flips and turns. Most viewers don’t want to have a journal to remember what happened in each episode, watching TV should be fun NOT stressful.
The biggest problem with this show is it TRIES to be a ball busting show and it’s oversexualization of women. Within the five minutes of the show opening, there were at least five different themes of women being sexual objects rather than people. The producers try to get away with this by making it seem like the women are owning their sexualization.
Fun fact the show is based on real-life criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and Larry King Live news producer Wendy Walker.
Notorious has become such a flop that ABC has now cut the season from 13 episodes to ten. This isn’t the only show ABC has cut the season short on, they have cut episodes from their new show conviction as well. ABC has started to realize they can not recreate their show scandal and hope for the same follow. Not ever head driven female role with create the same outcome.
I give Notorious a one star rating for its poor entertainment values and its terrible storyline.
