Walking off into the sunset. Hugh Jackman finished his wolverine career on a high note.

Is Logan worth everyone’s time? Logan is the third and final installment of the Wolverine series. Leading Actor Hugh Jackman is once again playing as the Wolverine. His co stars are Patrick Stewart who is also playing as Charles Xavier for the final time. You may also know Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek. The other star of the film is Dafne Keen who plays Laura in the film. This is her first big film for the child actor. The only other time she ever acted was in a Spanish speaking television series, The Refugees. James Mangold directed and wrote Logan.

These three actors steal the show in a much darker installment of a Marvel superhero movie. It received a Rated- R rating so I wouldn’t recommend children to go see it. Logan is very violent and has very colorful language throughout the film. If you look past all the mature content, Logan is a phenomenal film. Receiving a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 94% audience score. The film brought in over 88 million dollars in the opening weekend. Logan is much more than just your typical, over the top superhero film we come accustomed too. The film takes time to develop every character. They make an emotional attachment with the characters and the audience.

Logan is portrayed as a beat down, alcoholic whose healing power isn’t as effective and spends his days as a chauffeur and is tasked with taking care of Xavier. Finally when Laura, whose Logan’s daughter, needs his help to escape men chasing her. Their adventure together is topped off with one of the best endings ever in a superhero film. Even Critics  are saying  Logan could even be nominated for an Oscar, with Hugh Jackman possibly being nominated for best actor. This film hits the mark on everything you want to see in a movie. The action and violence, the emotion, and the overall payoff at the end of the film.

I would rate this film a perfect 5 out of 5 stars because I believe it raised the bar of what a superhero film could and should be.  They gave Hugh Jackman a proper send off after ten years of work and gave the fans exactly what they paid money to see.

I was able to catch up with some local students to see what they thought about Logan.  Senior Brian Meco thought, Logan was a great movie, it had everything I loved in a movie. It had action, mystery and a great ending. I definitely would recommend it to others.”

Sophomore Timmy Meehan explained, Logan was really good but it was really violent. I see why some people thought the Rated-R rating was better for the movie but it was too gruesome for my liking.”

Logan is in Theaters now around the world and I suggest buying a ticket to go see it.
