Colonia defeats crosstown rival JFK under the lights.

The Patriots were 7-7 coming into the game and on a two game winning streak. This Patriot squad is led by returning letter winners, Chris Micheal, Jason Hilenski, Frank Lehman and Anthony Palmisano. They also have freshman phenom Nick Neilson who has been hitting a .289 while pitching a 2.43 ERA. Junior Chris Michael leads the team with a 1.28 ERA. Junior Jason Hilenski leads the team with a .392 batting average. Colonia has been tasked all season with replacing 15th round draft pick Michael Wilson who batted a career .397 for the Patriots. It has not been easy to replace his production. The Patriots have a very bright future with a plethora of underclassman in the squad.

The Mustangs entered the game with a 5-7 record. They were coming off a two game losing streak. They are led by Matt Godlewski who has been hitting a .522. Michael Matusz leads the team with a 5 ERA.

Anytime the Patriots and the Mustangs play the game is sure to be a good one. This years first meeting the Patriots won 5-0. Junior Chris Michael threw a complete game shutout against the Mustangs. Throughout 7 innings Chris gave up 2 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 7 people. Junior Jason Hilenski led the Patriots with 2 hits, 3 runs and an RBI. In addition juniors such as Chris Michael and Anthony Palmisano also combined for 2 RBI’s. The Mustangs only hits were from seniors Matt Godlewski and Jordi Mora. Those two also pitched giving up 7 hits  and 2 runs combined. We asked Senior Charlie Tavormina for his thoughts on the game.
