Marching Patriots win two awards in competition

On October 6, 2013 our Group 2A Marching Patriots competed against JFK at JP Stevens High School. The whole competition officially started at 11:55 AM and the award ceremony was presented at 3:45 PM.

At the end of the competition, CHS had a combined of 68.725. Colonia High won the “Best Visual” and “Best Overall Effect” titles; whereas, the John F. Kennedy Marching Band won “Best Music.”

“The marching band practiced a lot for the first competition and the upcoming one. The practiced everyday usually from 2:30 – 5:00 or sometimes even from 5 to 9 PM. They usually are the last ones to leave from school,” Mr. Perdoni, the CHS Marching Band Director said.

Performing at JP Stevens High School were 10 other schools and at the end of the competition, there was a performance by JP Stevens Marching Band.

Chandni Patel is a unique 9th grader who is timid and is in love with reading.  She can be found with either a book or her cell phone in her hands. Not liking the spotlight, Patel tries to go with the flow and blend into the masses. Patel likes to watch Vampire Diaries a lot as well as she likes to read. Her favorite series would probably be The Premonition series by Amy A. Bartol. She loves to listen to music and hang out with her best friends. This is her first year writing for The Declaration.
