Cassius Clay Upsets the Heavyweight Boxing Champ

On this day in 1964, Cassius Clay upsets the defending heavyweight boxing champ Sonny Liston in a seventh-round technical knockout. Liston was an 8-1 favorite among the crowd, however after boasting that he would “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee”, and claiming he would knock out Liston in the eighth round, Clay only missed his prediction by one round.
