Spreading the holiday spirit the marching patriots take part in the Woodbridge township holiday parade.

The annual Woodbridge Holiday Parade recently took place on December 4th on Main Street in Woodbridge, New Jersey. The parade organized by mayor John E. McCormick and his political team with Woodbridge Township features local fire departments, high school bands, local business, organizations and more.

The holiday parade is all set up at Woodbridge High School and carried out down Main Street. The event is a great place to bring family. There are street vendors selling pretzels, cotton candy and water as well as toys for kids. It is recommended that one brings a chair for themselves due to the parade being over an hour long. Spectators may also want to dress warm for next years parade with the temperature being in the 30-40 degree range.

Some participants in the parade come from outside of Woodbridge township like the Trenton pipe band and the Staten Island  “Kar Klub.”

Our own Colonia marching patriots and homecoming court attended the event.  Other schools like John F. Kennedy high school and Woodbridge high school both had their marching bands and homecoming courts in the parade as well. All three high school bands preformed holiday themed music for the entertainment of the crowd.

Fire departments from Colonia, Avenel, Keasby, Perth Amboy, Islen and more rode their fire trucks down main street throwing candy to children spectating the parade. Local businesses got involved as well such as Chic-fil-a, liberty bank, Vito Mazza Salon and spa and the Farmers Insurance agency.

The parade is held every year in the month of December and is worth going to if you aren’t busy with work, school etc. Its fun for people of all ages young or old. The event is advertised before hand in “The Corner” and the Woodbridge news channel.

Woodbridge township holds many more annual events through the year like the annual Woodbridge car show and the annual Woodbridge township St. Patrick’s day parade.
