Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992) was a German-American actress and singer. Dietrich is currently the ninth-greatest female star of classic Hollywood cinema. Dietrich made numerous humanitarian efforts during the war and housed exiles from Germany and France. During these times, Dietrich would also advocate for their American citizenship. She was very open in her animosity toward Nazi Germany. Dietrich was also an openly bisexual woman, which was notably odd for her time. She was boldly open in a time where it was the status quo to be reserved and never let anyone tell her what to do. Dietrich was an incredible person, and we can all learn something from her outspoken nature and courage.
