Danica Patrick is the first Woman to win an Indy race

A role model for females everywhere, Danica Patrick won her first IndyCar event in 2008.

Today in 2008, Danica Patrick wins the Indy Japan 300 becoming the first Woman to win an IndyCar race. Born in Wisconsin, Patrick began racing at a young age and moved to England in 2002 for training opportunities.  Upon returning to the U.S., Patrick joined the Rahal Letterman racing team and by 2005 was taking part in IndyCar events. Such events included the famous Indy 500, in which during her debut, Patrick led for 19 laps becoming the first woman to ever lead the event.
