While staying at home with nothing to do, you can find it easy to take up hobbies like growing food from what you already have.
One of the easier foods to grow would be an avocado. It takes longer than most other options you may have. Despite that, they’re the easiest to manage while they grow. The best way to grow from an avocado seed takes a bit of patience. Step by step, growing one from an avocado you buy from your local grocery store will be a piece of cake.
So after you get some avocados from the store, you first have to wait a few days for them to be ripe. You’ll be able to eat the fruit while you get its seed out to prepare to grow. Once you get it and finish the avocado, you can soak it in hot water for a few hours. This helps with making the next step easier to do. After a few hours, at the most for 4 hours, you then have to peel the skin off of the seed itself. Be careful not to puncture the seed too much while you do so because it may harm future growth from happening. The best thing to use would be a fork, you’d find a crack in the skin from it being soaked and peel from there.
If there isn’t a crack or opening from the seed being soaked, start lightly making one of your own. Then after you make sure you get all of the skin off, you need to get a damp paper towel. Wrapping up the newly peeled avocado in this will speed up the process of germination. Germination is the technical term for growing a plant from a seed or spore. The process can vary in how long it takes depending on the type of seed you have. In order to quicken the process by natural means, this is the best way to do it.
Wrapping up the wet paper towel around the seed is the best way to do so. Then when you get it all wrapped up, you need to put it in a plastic bag. After you do that, put the bag with the seed in a spot where it will get indirect sunlight. Keeping it in some form of sunlight will help the process all the more. This should take two or three weeks to allow for the seed to split through the middle and develop a root. When it develops a root, you can then put it in a small glass of water where only half of it is in the water. You put the root in that water and leave it there as it grows. Then as it grows, put it in bigger containers of water for the root to have room to grow. Then when the root is more developed after a few months, you can finally put it in soil.
