After a hard fought World Series, defending champion, Toronto Blue Jays entered game 6 with a 3-2 lead. The Blue Jays got off to a good start, beating NLCS MVP Curt Schilling in game 1. The two opposing teams split the next two games before getting into a tough fight in game 4. After being down 6-3 heading into the 3rd inning, the Jays responded with a 4 run third inning to take the lead. The Phillies answered with a 5 run fifth inning, which put them ahead 12-7. Heading into the 8th inning the Jays were down 114-9, but they rallied, scoring 6 runs and ultimately winning the game and taking a commanding 3-1 lead in the series. Curt Schilling redeemed himself in game 5, pitching a shutout and leading the Phillies to a 2-0 win. In game 6, The Blue Jays were led by Paul Molitor, who went 3/5, leading them to an 8-6 win. Molitor went on to win series MVP honors, going 12/24 with 10 runs scored on the series.
