Where are some patches to go?
Although there are many different pumpkin patches in New Jersey, it’s hard to find one that checks off all the boxes. What are some traits of a good pumpkin patch? A good pumpkin patch may have more things to do, can be an organic farm, maybe cleaner, etc.
A trendy patch is Casola Farms. This pumpkin patch has many different things to do: face painting, hay rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, a corn maze, a haunted house, a haunted corn maze, and a sunflower maze as well as many food and drink vendors.
A pharaoh at Colonia High School, Kimberly Holland states “I like to go back to this one because my kids like it and it is tradition with family”
Another popular pumpkin patch is Schafer Farms. Schafer Farms also has a variety of activities to do while there, some listed as Hayrides, Corn Maize, Hay Maze, and feeding farm animals. This pumpkin patch has over 40 acres of land with their homegrown pumpkins.
Schafer Farm is another one that Holland goes to. She states, “My family liked this one because it had corn chucking, and it was cute, it had food trucks, and a lot of seasonal stuff.”
What are some patches to avoid?
Based on several reviews, you may want to avoid certain pumpkin patches because they are small, overpriced, have little to do, lack food and drink stations, and are advertised falsely.
A patch you may want to avoid is Schmidt Farms. This pumpkin patch is one of the key reasons to avoid a pumpkin patch which is nothing to do. This farm is very bland-looking and dry.
“I went to this farm and there was absolutely nothing to do,” Holland.
Another patch that you may want to avoid is Carms Farm. Carms farm is a more recently built farm since last year. This farm is popular but has many mixed feelings and opinions. A business teacher at Colonia High School, Peter Christathakis went to this farm.
Christathakis states “It was boring looking, there were upside-down barrels for the hay rides, and it was so dry.”
Many people like to go to different farms and try new ones every time; people don’t like to set their loyalty on one thing as their expectations on a farm could be met beyond what they were thinking.
Christathakis also states “Goes to different places and doesn’t have loyalty to one, but have gone to a couple over the years because it was a convenience. “
