Protests emerge after the 18th amendment has been added banning the use and production of alcohol in the United States.
The 21st Amendment was ratified in 1933, repealing the 18th Amendment and ending national alcohol prohibition in the U.S. Utah was the 36th state to approve it. Prohibition began in the early 19th century due to concerns over alcohol’s effects. It ultimately failed, leading to a loss of public support and tax revenue.
