Joe Okoroagu is a senior at Colonia High School. He is a passionate young journalist who began his writing journey circa the summer of 2021, driven by a love for reading, penning characters, world-building, and anything fictional. At just 15 years old in his Sophomore year, Joe took his first significant steps into the world of writing, working on self-publishing four books while preparing to transition into journalism, eager to move out of his comfort zone and enhance his writing skills. In addition to his passion for writing, Joe is also an avid track and cross-country athlete. He began running track at the end of his sophomore year and participated in cross country, driven by his love for running and the dream to one day win a national title and burst onto the running scene. Despite getting into the sport later than most, Joe is determined to leave a lasting legacy in the record books as a three-, two-, and one-miler at heart, aiming to make a mark through both words and action. As he looks ahead, Joe aspires to attend the University of Virginia after high school, where he plans to pursue a career in law as a law student. He is dedicated to becoming a stronger writer, runner, and student and is always looking for ways to achieve his goals.
“I’m a musician at heart, I know I’m not really a singer. I couldn’t compete with real singers. But I sing because the public buys it.”
