We have finally returned to a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out on December 18th and has been destroying the box office since. It is currently the second highest-grossing movie ever, right behind Avatar. But, The Force Awakens hasn’t even opened worldwide yet so it’s bound to beat it sooner or later. And, The Force Awakens absolutely deserves to be the highest-grossing movie of all time.
It was 10 years since the last Star Wars movie, and unlike the prequels, this movie did not disappoint. It was one of the most fun experiences I’ve ever had in a movie theatre. I happen to be a huge Star Wars fan and I couldn’t be any happier with this movie. This movie was a continuation of the original trilogy that was filmed back in the 70s. This movie had a lot of pressure on it and it delivered above and beyond expectations.
In The Force Awakens we were introduced to new characters like Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, BB-8, Captain Phasma, General Hux, Kylo Ren, Supreme Leader Snoke, etc. We were also re-introduced to some of our favorite characters like Han Solo, Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, C3P0, R2-D2, etc. The old was blended perfectly with the new which is something director J.J. Abrams excels at. If you’ve seen his Star Trek movies then you would know that this is true. I felt fully invested in these characters and enjoyed watching their character growth over the course of the movie.
The fight scenes in The Force Awakens were absolutely phenomenal. They made you feel like you were in the room with them. You feel emotionally involved in every fight scene throughout the movie. And the sound of a blaster firing or a lightsaber being drawn gives you a good feeling of nostalgia. You also get to see what Stormtroopers have to go through and how they come to be. Only now, they are no longer called “The Empire” they are called “The First Order.” Also, the god guys are no longer called “The Rebellion” they are called “The Resistance.”
In conclusion, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is an absolutely must-see movie. It was definitely my favorite movie of 2015. Star Wars is one of the biggest movie franchises of all time and The Force Awakens adds more fuel to its fire. Disney bought Star Wars from George Lucas for $4 billion and will probably earn all of that money back and then some. Whether it’s tickets, toys, or clothes, Star Wars is making a ton of money. Star Wars is back and I think that I speak for all Star Wars fans when I say that I couldn’t be any happier returning to a galaxy far, far away.
