When Mary drives to work, she travels at a speed of 45 miles per hour and reaches her office in 15 minutes. On the same route home from work, she travels at a speed of 35 miles per hour. How many hours does her total trip take?

Heather Newman, a current senior at Colonia High School, has written for The Declaration for the past three years. While she aspires to endeavor in mathematics in college and beyond, she is particularly content with the tactile sensation of a pen and blank piece of paper. Heather enjoys writing in a multitude of genres in addition to journalism, and has recently developed an affinity for poetry. In 2013, she received Gold and Silver Keys from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and was published in A Celebration of Poets. Aside from the language arts, Heather’s extracurricular passions include the Math Challenge Club, Science Research, Interact Club, swimming, and tennis.
