The Return of the King is the third and final volume of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, following The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers.
On October 20, 1955, the publication of “The Return of the King”, the 3rd and final volume of “The Lord of the Rings” by J. R. R. Tolkien occurred in London. With The Lord Of The Rings, Tolkien captured the imagination of millions and brought the fantasy genre to the masses. The trilogy was the start of an era that experienced a style of writing like none before it. The Books were so popular they were later turned into a film series that became a cult phenomenon.
