On this day in 1706, Benjamin Franklin statesman, diplomat, scientist and inventor who helped draft the Declaration of Independence and wrote Poor Richard’s Almanac. Franklin was the inventor of The lightening rod, Bifocals, Franklin’s electrostatic machine, the Franklin stove, the glass harmonica and the hand paddle.
