Today in 1997, Tiger Woods wins the Masters tournament at the age of 21. Born Eldrick Woods in Los Angeles, Wood’s father wasted no time getting his son into golf. By age eight Woods won his first Junior World Championship, and at age 15 was the youngest to win the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship. Woods would win two more consecutive Junior Amateur Championships and in 1994, accept a scholarship to Stanford University. Woods would continue to dominate winning the Armature Championship at 18 years old, the youngest ever. Continuing to dominate, Woods would compete in eight pro events and win the PGA rookie of the year. Woods became the youngest ever to win the Masters and broke records for his amazing score of 18-under-par-271. Woods would continue on to win three more Masters, becoming the first to own four titles before the age of 30.
