Lucille Ball (1911-1989) was an American actress, comedian, and model. Ball is most well-known for her feature role as Lucy in her self-produced sitcom I Love Lucy. She produced many of the television shows she starred in and was just as great at producing as she was acting. Ball started her career in modeling and moved onto Broadway. She married one of her Broadway co-stars and moved on to coproduce I Love Lucy with him. She became the first woman to run a major television studio and was nominated for 13 Primetime Emmy’s over her life.
