Benjamin Jowett (1817-1893) was an influential tutor and an administrative reformer in the University of Oxford. Jowett earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s at Balliol College. He also became an ordained deacon at in the Anglican Church. He studied throughout most of his life and presented many criticisms on philosophy and theology. Jowett wrote papers, made speeches, and educated numerous people during his lifetime. From 1882 to 1886 Jowett served as vice-chancellor to Oxford.
