John Updike (1932-2009) was an American novelist, poet, and art and literary critic. He is one of the only three writers to win the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Updike published over twenty novels, all of them well-loved by the public. His writing style is known for its sensuality. He was known to have a rich and arcane vocabulary and he regularly equipped it in his writing.
