On this exact day in 1919, the fastest Major League Baseball game ever took place. It was between the Giants and the Phillies with the Giants winning 6-1 in only 51 minutes. This is so significant because the average time of an MLB game now is at an all time high of 3 hours and 5 minutes. Considering there are 9 innings in total and 17 or 18 half innings in a baseball game means that each half inning took just under 3 minutes. Especially with TV timeouts and replay reviews being around today, I highly doubt any game will ever come close to breaking this record.
