On this day in 1989, an earthquake hit San Francisco, and cancelled the third World Series game of that year. The earthquake struck with a magnitude of 6.9. It hit at 5:04 pm that day, and killed 67 people. The earthquake however is the most memorable thing from this World Series. The Athletics would go on to beat the Giants four games to none. The earthquake made this boring series interesting, but for all the wrong reasons.
