On this day in 1976, billionaire Ted Turner, became the new owner of the Braves. He also would buy the Atlanta Hawks this same year, partially to provide programming for his TV station. Turner is the founder of CNN and is also worth over 2 billion dollars. He is no longer the owner of either the Braves or Hawks.
