New weekly YouTube review: Daily vlogging the world over with Louis Cole! Traveling the globe and capturing his adventures and charity work on his channel: FunForLouis.
Since its introduction in 2005, YouTube has become a massive force in the internet age culture of today. It’s the birthplace of the viral video, as well as one of the first social networks to come to existence. Today, the website is visited over a billion times a month, and videos have reached into the billions of views. Under Google leadership since 2006, it continues to grow and become a legitimate source of actual talent and fame.
There are plenty of adventurous people who use YouTube as their medium of showing the world their various travels and activities. One of the most prominent video makers in this demographic is England’s very own Louis Cole!
Cole gained internet fame back in April 2012, for his videos posted on his now out-of-use channel: FoodForLouis. Today, Cole runs one main channel that documents his seemingly endless adventures around the Earth. This channel is known as FunForLouis, and it has currently gained over 630,000 subscribers and over 30 million views.
Out of all of the various methods of video making found on YouTube, daily vlogging is by far the most strenuous. Vlogging is video blogging, which can basically be anything from talking to a camera in an organized fashion, to strapping on a GoPro and capturing an entire day’s adventure on camera. Daily vlogging requires capturing your day to day activities almost every day, then editing and uploading them as soon as possible, in order to keep the material current. Louis Cole is arguably the king of daily vlogging, posting about six to eight videos per week. Cole’s videos are also among the longest by popular YouTube standards, often floating around the ten minute mark.
Each day, for about ten minutes, viewers are immersed in different cultures and expeditions. In the past month alone, Cole has traveled from Kenya, to Australia, to Los Angeles, then roadtripping across the entire US to Orlando, Florida for Playlist Live, one of the biggest annual YouTube conventions. After Playlist, Cole and his “Freedom Force” roadtrip crew turned around and drove all the way back to LA, stopping off in many places in between, staying with friends, or whoever would put them up for the night. Every single day of this trip was documented by Cole, bringing viewers wherever he may be.
On his vast array of journeys, Cole uses his influence and resources for charity. While in Kenya, Cole worked with Regenerate to aid children of poverty. He, along with others from the UK and Africa, helped look after impoverished kids who are without a home, and set up activities for them to keep them safe. Cole uses his internet popularity to raise awareness of the causes he is involved with, as well. He was also a member of the JacksGap team in last year’s Rickshaw Run, a charity race across India to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, through prizeo.com.
Louis Cole is instantly recognizable in the YouTube community for his penchant for adventure and travelling, as well as his signature dreadlocks. He is one of the most active and charitable video makers on the web today, putting out new quality content on the daily, from all over the world.
