Overall Sir Ben Kingsley won one Oscar and has had 47 nominations. He was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth the Second in 2001.
Isaac Hempstead Wright voiced Eggs in the movie. He is a 15 year old boy from Surrey, England. The Boxtrolls is about Boxtrolls. Boxtrolls are mischievous creatures who steal things that are loose and lying around on the streets of Cheesebridge; in the movie, they have also raised an orphaned human boy named Eggs (Isaac Hempstead Wright). They live in the home that they have built under the streets. Then the town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley) comes up with a plan to get rid of the Boxtrolls in order to get a white hat in exchange for his red hat because the white hatted people are highly honored. When he starts to succeed at capturing and supposedly killing the Boxtrolls, Eggs ventures above ground to try and rescue his family. Once above ground Eggs meets and teams up with the feisty Winnie (Elle Fanning) who helps him try to rescue the Boxtrolls while trying to teach him how to act like a normal boy.
The Boxtrolls was a funny and cute family movie that is pretty much for everyone. It’s a great movie to bring a little sibling to or if you just want to unleash your childish side. The actors really bring the characters to life and make them relatable. People will always find an Egg or Winnie somewhere in others around them, they just have to look. There’s always that one person in life that is feisty, is a little full of themselves, and craves the attention that they might not always get, but is nice and tries to be helpful in the way that they know how. That would be the Winnie in people. Then there are those people who try to fit in, but they can’t because they’re not used to how other lifestyles are, and frankly just look ridiculous when they try, but are really good friends and are loyal to others. That would be the Egg in people.
The movie is guaranteed to make people laugh at least once through the film. It will have people on the edge of their seat and it will make people hold their breath. What most will possibly find annoying is that it starts off somewhat slow, but it does pick up after a while. Another thing that some people, including myself, might find disturbing is that Boxtrolls eat bugs. Lastly the villain, Archibald Snatcher, has a horrible allergy to cheese, yet that is what the people of Cheesebridge eat, so when he eats it he blows up and turns red and puffy from his allergy.
The Boxtrolls also has it’s own website where you can learn about the characters and play games. To see it visit theboxtrolls.com.
So as you can see The Boxtrolls is money well spent, so go and grab a family member or a friend and go watch it. The time spent watching the movie will be greatly enjoyed.
