Pictured are candy canes, which are a common treat during Christmas time. They are minty in flavor, and now come in a variety of colors besides red and white.
Also originating in Germany are candy canes. Legend has it a choirmaster gives the treat to young children to keep them quiet during church services. They didn’t become a popular Christmas tradition until the 1840s when a German-Swedish immigrant decorated his Christmas tree with them.
