May 31st, 2008- Usain Bolt breaks 100m record

May 31st, 2008- Usain Bolt breaks 100m record

The previous 100 meter world record was 9.85 seconds set by Leroy Burrell in 1994. Bolt won a tight race against the former 100 meter champion Tyson Gay, who ran a 9.85. In 2009, Bolt would go on to break his own record, running a 9.58, a record that still holds 15 years later.
