The legendary but controversial pitcher edged out Dave Stewart and Jimmy Key to win his second of seven Cy Young awards in his career. He posted a record of 20-9 with a 2.97 ERA and 256 strikeouts. He led the league in ERA 7 times, won an MVP in 1986 and holds the record for most Cy Young wins by a pitcher in MLB history. In spite of his dominance, Clemens has been held out of the Hall of Fame due to his use of performance-enhancing drugs.
