The Packers dominated the game, winning 27-0 to claim their 5th NFL title. The Giants were the defending champions, having won their 3rd title in 1938.
The Packers previously won titles in 1929, 1930, 1931, 1936 and 1939. They would go on to win their sixth and final title under Curly Lambeau five years later in 1944.
After Lambeau’s departure they hit a drought until legendary head coach Vince Lombardi arrived. In 1961, they won their first title under Lomardi. This would spark a historically great run for Green Bay in the 1960s. They would repeat as champions in 1962 and would begin the start of a 3-peat in 1966 when they won their 9th title. In 1967, the NFL renamed the championship as the Super Bowl. The Packers claimed the first two Super Bowls to cap off their second three-peat in franchise history(the first being in 1929,1930 and 1931).
In 1997 and 2011, the Packers won their 3rd and 4th Super Bowls and their 12th and 13th titles.
