Many beauty products went viral in 2024. Here are six of them, with different reviews. Should you buy them?
Rhode Fall Lip Case
One of the top products is the Rhode Fall Lip Case. The case is $38, and the peptide lip tint is $18. You can find these products on the Rhode website. This lip case has a 4.5/5 rating with 498 reviews.
I think that is a brilliant idea for Rhode Beauty. Without the lip treatment, the case would look weird, and the users would feel like they need to buy another lip tint.
Although it is a smart marketing idea I do not feel that it is a smart idea to buy it. I feel that the case is just bulky and unnecessary. You can just hold your lip products in your pocket or a bag.
Kate H wrote a one-star review on the Rhode website saying, “Yes, it’s convenient. But it’s also super bulky, unnecessary, slips off your phone all the time, and is quite cheaply made for the cost.”
Clarins Comfort Lip Oil
Clarins Comfort Lip Oil is another viral product. This lip oil is supposed to nourish, comfort, and visibly plump lips. Sephora rates it 4.1/5 with 825 reviews. This lip oil has been talked about and duped over the past two years. While the famous Dior Lip Oil came out in 2020, Clarins came out in 2015.
The Dior lip oil nourishes, protects, softens, and revitalizes lips, according to the Dior website. While both of the lip oils are expensive they only have a $10 difference, with Clarins being $30 and Dior being $40. The difference may be because Dior is a luxury brand. But luxury products are not always better. Both can be found at Sephora and Ulta.
On Sephora Awawaw left a five-star review. “I LOVE this lip oil. I have always had dry lips and avoid most tinted products because they are always drying. This solves that problem while also having a lovely color that’s not too dramatic.”
Misha919 left a one-star review on Sephora saying, “Very tacky, doesn’t glide on smooth. Felt somewhat grainy. Do yourself a favor and get the Laneige Sleep Mask. You will thank me later!”
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Facial Spray
Another beauty product on the list is the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Facial Spray. Glow Recipe says on its website that this spray balances oil production and keeps your skin and makeup fresh all day long.
Sephora sells this spray for $29, which is rated 4.2/5 with 1,394 reviews. Many different sprays may be better for your skin or cheaper. This spray contains a fragrance, which is said to be bad for your skin, even though it is the last ingredient on the list.
JosieD1015 left a five-star review on Sephora saying, “I just bought this after surgery in the hospital. I’m 51 My skin was not happy with my meds etc. I use it before and after moisturizers. I love it so much just bought another!” There are 808 five-star reviews on Sephora.
There is a one-star review on Sephora by rachelrar saying, “So far; this brand is not doing it for my skin. Overpriced formulation that feels sticky and like scented water. No noticed benefits from it, so I returned.” On Sephora there is 92 one-star reviews.
Saie Glowy Super Gel
The Saie Glowy Super Gel has been very popular in 2024 and to be honest, I do not understand why. This can be used as a lightweight luminizer, illuminator, or primer. Sephora sells this gel for $28.
I don’t think I would ever buy this gel. In my opinion, I do not think a shiny makeup base looks good. It seems confusing to use as a highlighter. It seems that it would move the makeup around underneath.
On the Sephora website, Bbykasper left a five-star review saying, “This is the secret to a radiant, dewy glow! The lightweight gel blends effortlessly for a fresh, natural finish—perfect under makeup or on its own. It’s hydrating, non-sticky, and gives that “your skin but better” vibe. A must-have for glowing skin!” There are two thousand five-star reviews in total.
Marykates6 left a one-star review on the Sephora website. “After using this multiple times, I found that I really didn’t not like this. No matter how I used it, it failed. It was always patchy on me, I felt really greasy, when blending it looks streaky with glitter specks that I’m my option are too big for my liking.” There is a total of 136 one-star reviews on the website.
Summer Fridays Lip Butter
The Summer Fridays Lip Butter has been popular since 2023. I bought this in June of 2024 and I still have half left.
Sephora sells this lip butter for $24 and rates it 4.3/5 with 12,610 reviews. Summer Fridays says this lip butter soothes, heals, and conditions dry lips.
I already bought it but I am not sure I would repurchase. I have the Pink Sugar scent and I love the smell but that’s it. When I use this lip butter I get little gritty pieces of something and it makes me not want to use it anymore.
There are eight thousand five-star reviews, one of which is by Kkimmy: “I loved how the color looked on my lips. It was smooth and did not leave that weird tacky residue after long wear. It’s a very good product that I will buy again and again.”
Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette
Sephora sells the Makeup by Mario Master Mattes Eyeshadow Palette for $52. It has a 4.4/5 rating with 631 reviews.
This eyeshadow palette is currently in my Sephora cart. I have been skeptical about buying it although all of the good reviews, it seems to good to be true.
On social media, there are many claims that this is the easiest eyeshadow palette and can blend easily. The twelve creamy shades are said to be curated for every skin tone.
On Sephora, Yleem posted a one-star review. “In theory, this was the perfect palette for me. I was super excited since it’s all mattes which I love. But it’s hard to get pigment on the eyes and all the colors end up looking the same on the lid even if I try to pack it on. I also do agree there’s a lot of fallout in the pan.”
Makeupluvvah posted a five-star review on Sephora saying, “I am not a huge lover of eyeshadow and for the most part only just wear mascara and a little bit of brown eyeliner when I put makeup on. However, I have lately been craving a more elevated eye look but still want to keep things simple. I decided to buy this after seeing people rave about it and use it to recreate 90s eye makeup. I can honestly say it has become my favorite if not only eyeshadow palette I have used consistently for the year.”
