The 2024 season was surrounded by plenty of good and bad memories regarding the hockey culture. There were new records, trade-ins for players, the highest goals and so much more. So, let’s recap the 2024 hockey season then look into where it is heading in 2025.
Standings
Some NHL teams are ranked differently. Most teams have different points for the 2024-2025 hockey season. Here is a list of the top 3 rankings for each standing. The top three Eastern NHL hockey standings are the Toronto Maple Leafs (50 points), the Florida Panthers (48 points), and the Boston Bruins (44 points). The top three Metropolitan teams are the Washington Capitals (53 points), the New Jersey Devils (51 points), and the Carolina Hurricanes (48 points). The top three Western teams are the Winnipeg Jets (56 points), the Minnesota Wild (54), and the Dallas Stars (49). There are plenty of other NHL season standings. Highest Goals
The highest-scoring player collects 144 points from the 2023-24 season. His name is Nikita Kucherov, and he plays for the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL team. In the 2024 season, the points differentiate: January (24 points), February (19 points), March (22 points), April (18 points), and May (7 points).
During the beginning of the 2024-25 season, Kucherov has played a fantastic season already. His points have not changed much since his previous season. In October and November, he scored 17 points a month. In December, he brought up his game and scored 20 points. Since the 2025 season just began, he has had a low-scoring record since the new year started.
The Tampa Bay Lightning team has won 19 games this season, 2 overtimes, and 13 losses. In their most recent sports game, Tampa versus their opponent Los Angeles Kings, on Saturday, January 4, Tampa leaves with a loss 1-2.
Betting on your favorite hockey teams
There are many games every season and there are bets. For people to make money, they put money in a poll, gather a bunch of money, and give it to a winner. For this year’s season, there is a roster of NHL bets. Some examples of future bets include: the Stanley Cup, Eastern Conference, Western Conference, etc.
Upcoming games/ events
Since hockey has a huge variety of teams, there is a team always playing. In future events, the Ducks play the Capitals on January 14 at 7:00 pm along with the Lightning and Bruins, Sharks and Red Wings, Flyers and Blue Jackets, and Stars and Maple Leafs. On the same day, Panthers vs Devils and Senators vs Islanders at 7:30 pm. All of these games are TBD for the locations. Other fun facts/information
Many teams are locking in with good records. Some lose and some win. The NHL holds different records for certain teams and players. The stars of October 2024, were: Cale Makar (Colorado Avalanche #8), Kyle Connor (Winnipeg Jets #81), Kirill Kaprizov (Minnesota Wild #97), and Matvei (Philadelphia Flyers #39). On November 14, 2024, Connor McDavid from the Edmonton Oilers scored a total of 1,036 points for his career points.
Opinions
Hockey is a very intense and interesting sport. The admiration comes from the dedication and commitment the players have to compete and travel every day to either win or lose. They work hard to be where they are and earn those wins and losses. Hockey players fight every day to push through the pressure and pain of being on their feet all day and to strive to be the best. Fans enjoy watching a well-put-together, demanding and fast-paced game. Growing up with a family who admires sports, definitely benefits from the love I have for the NHL.
