Introduction
“The Christmas Chronicles” was released November 22, 2018 on Netflix. It is a very funny holiday adventure movie filled with lots of Christmas joy. It’s the story of sister and brother Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey. The American Christmas comedy was filmed by Clay Kaytis and produced by 1492 Pictures and Wonder Worldwide. It has a running time of 103 minutes which is 1 hour and 43 minutes.
Plot
“The Christmas Chronicles” follows Kate Pierce is a 10-year-old girl who is a true believer in Santa Claus and wants to film Santa Claus. However she needs the help of her older brother. Teddy, her older brother is 16 years old and has started down a bad path since his fathers death. After waiting a while with their camera for Santa he finally comes into their house. They take that time when he comes inside their house to go hop onto his reindeer-drawn sleigh. From there their plan goes downhill, and they accidentally crash Santa’s sleigh. All of Santa’s presents as well as his magic hat get lost. From there Kate, Teddy, and Santa team up to find the presents in time to have them delivered for Christmas. They also get Santa’s elves to help repair the sleigh in time so they have a way to get the presents given.

The director of the movie is Clay Kaytis, who is an American animator and film director. Matt Lieberman and David Guggenheim are the writers of the movie. Two top characters are Kurt Russell who plays Santa Claus and Darby Camp who plays Kate. Followed by them other main characters are Judah Lewis who plays Teddy, Oliver Hudson who plays Dug, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley who plays Claire.
Awards
“The Christmas Chronicles” won two awards. The movie’s first award was a 2019 Nominee. This Nominee was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – Sound Effects, Foley, Music, Dialogue and ADR for Non-Theatrical Feature Film Broadcast Media. It was a Golden Reel Award. The second award won was another 2019 Nominee. This nominee was nominated for Best Costume Design in Film Contemporary. This award was from CAFTCAD.
Know Before Watching Movie
Where you can watch this movie is on Netflix but there are some things to keep in mind before showing to younger kids. It is recommended to watch at age 10 and up, with the language and violence done in the movie. Characters do risky things like steal cars and climb telephone poles, also use strong language and insults.
Movie Opinions
With other peoples reviews of the movie the feelings are mixed. Some people think that it is a delightful movie that captures the magic and spirit of Christmas. Also, Kurt Russell’s portrayal of Santa Claus is charming and he brings a new energy to the character. Others say some parts of the movie felt a bit cheesy and over the top. And the plot was kind of predictable and lacked originality. In my opinion I really like this movie, there is also a part two to this movie and I really enjoy that one too. I liked the way all the events went down together and the funny parts in the movie. It is a great movie to watch when the holiday time comes around in my opinion.
