Former Dodgers manager, Walter Alston made his way to Cooperstown after a career that spanned two decades. Alston was unfortunately unable to attend the ceremony due to health problems.
Alston began managing the Dodgers as a player-manager in 1954. He led the Dodgers to their first World Series in 1955 and won three more in 1959, 1963 and 1965. In his 22 seasons, he won over 2,000 games and won NL Manager of the Year 6 times.
His number 24 jersey is retired by the Dodgers and is a part of their Ring of Honor.
