Rory Mcilroy of Northern Ireland won the biggest prize in golf history after besting Jim Furyk by just one stroke. Mcilroy won 2.25 million in his first ever tournament win.
Mcilroy and Furyk were very evenly matched throughout the week, with Mcilroy shooting a 2 under 70 in the final round and 16 under par for the week and Furyk finishing at 15 under par. The defending champion, Webb Simpson had a fairly lackluster performance, tying for 16th place and finishing 6 strokes behind Mcilroy.
