When it comes to wings, there’s no shortage of options, but three names stand out: Buffalo Wild Wings, Wingstop, and Wing It On! Each chain has its take on flavor, crispiness, and overall experience, but which one truly reigns supreme? I put them to the test, ordering the same 6-piece bone-in wing combo with lemon pepper and buffalo flavors at each spot. Here’s how they stacked up.

Buffalo Wild Wings(BWW): The Champion
BWW came in strong with a 9.5/10 rating. My meal cost around $15, and while they don’t allow flavor mixing in a 6-piece order, it made up for it by providing lemon pepper dry rub and mild buffalo sauce on the side.
By being crispy and well-cooked, holding up perfectly against the sauces. The buffalo sauce was thick, flavorful, and even better with their blue cheese dressing. The lemon pepper rub packed a bold, zesty punch, making every bite enjoyable. The fries, however, were just okay nothing special.
Service was fast, with my takeout order ready in about 7–10 minutes. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and parking was easy to navigate. Overall, Buffalo Wild Wings set the bar high with flavorful wings, quick service, and a great dining experience.

Wingstop (WS): Good, But Not Great
While a fan favorite, fell short compared to BWW. My meal cost $17, making it the most expensive. However, they did allow me to mix flavors in a single 6-piece order, which was a nice plus.
It was cooked well but lacked crispiness. The lemon pepper seasoning had a decent flavor but wasn’t as vibrant as BWW’s, and the buffalo sauce was too watery, pooling excessively at the bottom of the tray.
But Wingstop had a saving grace—the Cajun fries. Easily the best fries of the three, they were full of flavor, crispy, and absolutely delicious when fresh. For a wing spot, they sure know how to make fries.
Unfortunately, the wait time was the longest at 15–20 minutes, and the service wasn’t as fast or friendly as Buffalo Wild Wings. Overall, Wingstop earned a 7.5/10—solid flavors, but not crispy enough, and the buffalo sauce missed the mark.
Wing It On! (WIO) : A Strong Contender

Wing It On! delivered a solid 9/10 performance. My meal took about 12–15 minutes to prepare—faster than Wingstop but slower than BWW.
With delicious flavor, the buffalo sauce had the perfect balance between thick and thin, delivering great flavor and consistency. The lemon pepper seasoning was decent, though it lacked some zest, falling just short of expectations.
The fries were fantastic, coated in Kick’n Cajun seasoning that added just the right amount of spice. However, was disappointed to find they no longer serve curly fries, which had been a personal favorite.
Where Wing It On! lost points was customer service—it felt more transactional than welcoming. Parking at their West Orange location was also a hassle, so ordering ahead or finding a side street is your best bet.
Final Verdict: Buffalo Wild Wings Takes the Crown
Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing It On! were neck and neck, but in the end, Buffalo Wild Wings won the battle. Their wings were the crispiest, the buffalo sauce was unbeatable, and their blue cheese was the best. The customer service was friendlier, the wait time was the shortest, and parking was a breeze.
However, Wing It On! has the best lemonade, and Wingstop wins the fries category. So, if you’re looking for the ultimate wing experience for game night, a chill night in, or takeout, Buffalo Wild Wings is the spot to beat—9.5/10, highly recommended.
