On this day in 1871, the Great Chicago Fire began, which killed over 200 people, and left several blocks of downtown Chicago in ruins. Over 100,000 people were left homeless. This lead to an increase in steel and stone buildings rather than the wood ones that easily burnt.

Beyond that, the wedding was officiated by none other than Michael Jackson. In 1996, they divorced.
