Elizabeth Kenny (1880 – 1952) was an Australian nurse, known for her controversial approach to treating polio. This approach was characterized by its physical therapy- the idea that damaged muscles need to move instead of being  immobilized. Kenny’s approach became known as the founding for the idea of physical therapy.
