James Thurber (1894 – 1961) was an American cartoonist, journalist, and humorist. Thurber is known for his cunning wit and the many cartoons and short stories he published through magazines. He was primarily published through the New Yorker. His portfolio is highly impressive, with numerous works ranging from books to cartoons to plays. An award, the Thurber Prize, is annually awarded to outstanding examples of American humor.
