The opening scene was much longer

The final cut of Venom opens with Carlton Drake’s Life Foundation shuttle crashing in Malaysia. In the original script, the first scene of the film was much longer. We could’ve seen the shuttle’s crew discover a comet filled with symbiotes. Originally, the team would’ve taken some samples to Earth.

Tom Hardy signed on as Venom because his son is a huge fan

Tom Hardy played Venom because his son Louis loves the character. Hardy normally appears in heavy r-rated action films so he wanted to play a role his son could watch. Tom was not familiar with the character, but his son coached him so he would be ready to play the character.
