March 22nd, 1989- Pete Rozelle retires as NFL Commissioner

After 29 years as the NFL Commissioner, Pete Rozelle announced that 1989 would be his final season. He took the job in 1960. Prior to that, he was the General Manager of the Los Angeles Rams. Under Rozelle’s lead, the NFL introduced the Super Bowl, Gatorade showers for the winning head coach and Monday Night Football. When Rozelle initially took over, the NFL had 12 teams but after merging with the AFL, they jumped to 28 teams worth roughly 100 million dollars each by the time Rozelle retired. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985 while he was still commissioner.

Dylan Miller is currently a Junior at Colonia High School,he enjoys participating in sports,earning varsity letters in Cross Country,Winter Track and Spring Track. In addition to participating in sports, Dylan also follows the NFL,NBA and MLB. Scouting is a large part of Dylan’s extracurricular activities,while on his path to Eagle,he will learn more about leadership and communication. When he’s not busy in school or running,he enjoys watching TV shows like Ted Lasso,he also likes listening to sports analysts Colin Cowherd,Jim Rome or Dan Patrick. He aspires to get in the sports field
