Legendary NBA player, Michael Jordan won the award over first overall pick, Hakeem Olajuwon, who had a solid year in his own right.
Jordan finished third in scoring average with 28 points per game and was 4th in steals with 2.4 steals per game. Jordan was naturally a high draft pick following a successful career in college, winning the Player of the Year twice and hitting an iconic clutch shot to beat Georgetown in the NCAA championship. Jordan proved himself to be a strong postseason player as well in spite of an early exit at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks. Jordan averaged 29.3 and 8.5 assists per game in the series.
