Oct. 28 - St. Louis’ Gateway Arch is completed

On October 28, 1965, construction is completed on the Gateway Arch, a spectacular 630-foot-high catenary curve of stainless steel marking the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial on the waterfront of St. Louis, Missouri.

Jeffrey Mellito is a 16-year-old junior at Colonia High School. Mellito has been living in Colonia for the past 9 years, having moved not far from Colonia from Avenel. He attended Claremont Elementary School and Colonia Middle School. Mellito enjoys playing sports like baseball and football. He is currently on varsity baseball. He also wants to have a sports or computer related job when he is older. When Mellito’s in school, he enjoys English and history. Mellito took journalism because he enjoys writing about his own and others interests. He is excited to be a part of the declaration and being part of the class.
