Nov. 14 - Herman Melville publishes “Moby-Dick” in the U.S.

On November 14, 1851, Moby-Dick is published. Now considered a great classic of American literature—with one of the most famous opening lines in fiction: “Call me Ishmael”—the book about Captain Ahab and his quest to catch a giant white whale was originally a big flop.

Jeffrey Mellito is a 16-year-old junior at Colonia High School. Mellito has been living in Colonia for the past 9 years, having moved not far from Colonia from Avenel. He attended Claremont Elementary School and Colonia Middle School. Mellito enjoys playing sports like baseball and football. He is currently on varsity baseball. He also wants to have a sports or computer related job when he is older. When Mellito’s in school, he enjoys English and history. Mellito took journalism because he enjoys writing about his own and others interests. He is excited to be a part of the declaration and being part of the class.
