Colonia High’s Varsity Boys’ Basketball Team defeated the New Brunswick Zebras in the home conference game on Thursday January 15th at 7 p.m. at Colonia High School with a score of 65-24.
Colonia won their last home game 81-47 against South Plainfield on Tuesday, January 13th. Leading their last victory seemed to be James Corbett with 14 points. Winning Thursday’s game came with no surprise considering they won this Tuesday’s game with flying colors.
New Brunswick lost their last home game 47-67 against Sayreville on Tuesday, January 13th 2015. Trevon Blakey scored the most points against Sayreville giving the team five points. Their overall record is currently 1-8.
Senior, Desmond Jackson, made a three pointer in the first quarter to start Colonia’s lead. Chase Barney made two, two pointers back to back.
Starting off the second quarter with a three pointer was Jodrell Thompson; he also stole the ball and scored a one pointer shorty after. Thompson scored 11 points for the Patriots throughout the game.
Jalen Dawkins made the third quarter’s first basket. Colonia lead all four quarters of the game; the first quarter 16-10, the second quarter 37-14, and even the third quarter 61-20.
The Zebra’s leading scorer was Trevon Blakey with 5 points.
Overall, it was a good game and Colonia certainly demonstrated that teamwork pays off to a victory.
