On August 10, 2019, guards found Jeffrey Epstein dead in his prison cell due to an alleged suicide. He had been awaiting trial for sex trafficking on conspiracy.Since then, the phenomenon of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking ring has exploded all over the media. Who was involved, what happened and where these missing victims are today?
When it comes to this case, it starts to get confusing. How many files the government keeps withholding and randomly dropping, the people involved. Social media rumors don’t help either when it comes to what’s real and what’s fake. The recent drop of files on January 30 has generated a lot of backlash recently. Authorities have not disclosed some victims and other victims who wanted to remain nameless were sadly named in the documents. Some people with ties to Epstein were named and others were redacted. With that, let’s see what they’ve dropped.
Files dropped
Around a month ago, the US Department of Justice released a new round of Epstein files to the public. It included around 3 million pages, 180,000 pictures and 2,000 videos.
These files seemed to include Epstein’s time while in prison, Ghislaine Maxwell’s testimony and interrogations with officers, and many high profile figures. The evidence also included emails, text messages, interviews and investigations.
One prominent name mentioned during the release was former Prince Andrew. Photos surfaced showing him on all fours over a seemingly underage, unconscious girl. His brother, King Charles III, subsequently stripped him of his royal titles.
“It’s disgusting how many powerful figures have connections to the files,” Sophia Montesinos, a junior at Colonia High School, claims.
The files even mention Elon Musk. Dozens of emails show chains of him in contact with Epstein, where they are trying to make dinner plans, and even plans to visit the island. An email chain around December 2013 confirms this, where Musk emails Epstein, asking “We will be in St. Bart’s. When should we head to your island on the 2nd?”
Epstein never responds, so Lesley Groff, his assistant, forwards Epstein the email about 10 days later, saying “Just a reminder Elon Musk was asking about coming to your Island on Jan 2nd…”
Although Donald Trump is mentioned 38,000 times across at least 5,300 individual files, he denies having any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s activities. While the released material does not appear to implicate him directly, some people believe that the Department of Justice is withholding information about what it contains regarding him as a cover up.
Victim Leaks
Although the Department of Justice claims it is keeping all victims anonymous, leaked files appear to reveal victims’ information. Names, emails, unblurred photos all leaked to lead to victim information.
According to PBS, the department blamed it on “technical or human error.” PBS also says that two different lawyers for Epstein victims have “sought immediate judicial intervention” because there are thousands of names and photos not redacted or blurred to save victims identities.
The Department of Justice has also claimed that it redacted all pornographic and nude photos, but the available material suggests otherwise. There are still dozens of uncensored photos and videos with victims’ faces unblurred that are available to the public.
“I think it’s messed up,” Temera Francis, a senior at Colonia High school states. “While I do believe all those who did harm should be mentioned in the files, those affected should be kept completely anonymous.”
What Comes Next
We don’t exactly know when the next slew of files are going to be available on the Department of Justice page, but it’s most likely soon. In the meantime, both Hillary and Bill Clinton will be giving their testimony on what they knew about Epstein.
Bill Clinton previously maintained a friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and even vacationed with him. He’s denied being on the island, but speculation and photos make it seem like he has.
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated that the DOJ reviewed the files and did not find credible evidence against the president that warranted further investigation. When reading up on these files and who’s involved, people need to remember: this isn’t about politics, it’s about humanity.
