Jeffrey Mellito is a 16-year-old junior at Colonia High School. Mellito has been living in Colonia for the past 9 years, having moved not far from Colonia from Avenel. He attended Claremont Elementary School and Colonia Middle School. Mellito enjoys playing sports like baseball and football. He is currently on varsity baseball. He also wants to have a sports or computer related job when he is older. When Mellito’s in school, he enjoys English and history. Mellito took journalism because he enjoys writing about his own and others interests. He is excited to be a part of the declaration and being part of the class.
Jayden Ferret, Editor
Jayden Ferret is a 16-year-old junior at Colonia High School, He loves playing a variety of different sports He’s been playing football since he was 12. Ferret is both a varsity wrestler and a varsity football player. Ferret enjoys many different types of foods but one of his favorites is chicken wings, with garlic parmesan being one of his top flavors. His favorite season of the year is fall. He loves football season, the colder weather and the overall aesthetic of fall. Ferret is Cuban, Italian, and Puerto Rican. He also enjoys watching different tv shows and movies which he often does in his free time. Also, in his free time he love to watch NFL/NBA games and play a variety of video games. Ferret loves the game “Madden” and also enjoys games other games such as NCAA and NBA2k. Ferret claims he “always has his airpods in”. He has said that music is one of the most impactful things in his life.

Shane Litterer is a 16 year old junior at Colonia High School. Litterer has lived in Colonia all his life, having attended Claremont Elementary School and Colonia Middle School. Litterer enjoys sports like football. When he is older he wants to have a job that is sports related. In school, Litterer’s favorite subjects are English and Science. He enjoys writing and chose the journalism class to have the freedom to write what interests him and his fellow classmates. He is excited to be a member of The Declaration and looks forward to being a part of the class.
