‘Tis the holiday season and with that comes a flow of must-have video games. Whether you’re a fan of first person shooters or role playing games there is something for you. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, WWE 2K16, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, and Star Wars: Battlefront are just a few of the many games you can give or receive over the holiday season. And I am sure that the recipient of these wonderful games will be more than thankful for it.
On October 23, 2015 Assassin’s Creed released its ninth installment titled Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. Syndicate is the successor to Assassin’s Creed: Unity. This game takes place in London, England in the year 1868 during the Industrial Revolution. This is a third person interactive game that involves new ways of battle and travel. Syndicate does not feature any multiplayer mode. Imagine Game Network (IGN) rated this game an 8.2 out of 10.
Next on the list is none other than WWE 2K16. 2k16 released on October 27th, 2015 and is the seventeenth game in the WWE game series. After the disappointment that was WWE 2K15, 2K16 came back in a big way with much more fun and enjoyable gameplay. Just about everything has been reworked in order to give the gamer a much better match-playing experience. Also, new to the game is the Stone Cold Steve Austin showcase mode and the MyCareer mode. In the Stone Cold showcase mode, you get to go through the career of the Texas Rattlesnake and see how he came to be one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time. In the MyCareer mode, you get to create a WWE superstar and write his path to stardom. Whether it’s by joining The Authority or defying them, you will get to decide how your superstar will become the star that he is. This mode is only available on PS4 and Xbox One. IGN rated this game an 8.8 out of 10.
Call of Duty is one of, if not the, biggest gaming series ever. And on November 6, 2015 it released its twelfth entry, Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Black Ops III is a first-person shooter that was developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. When starting campaign, you get to choose whether you want to play as a male or female character. Not only that, but you get to choose what you want that character to look like too. Also returning is the multiplayer mode and its world famous zombies mode. The cast of the zombies mode is Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, Ron Perlman, Robert Picardo, and Jeff Goldblum. IGN rated this game a 9.2 out of 10.
To finish off this list is Star Wars: Battlefront. Battlefront released on November 17th, 2015 which just so happens to be a month before the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It is the third major release in the Star Wars: Battlefront series. This game is not considered a continuation, but rather a reboot. If you are a Star Wars fan then this is the game for you. Unfortunately, there is no campaign mode but there is a great multiplayer mode and the maps in this game are fantastic. Whether it’s Hoth or Tatooine the detail put into these planets is truly out of this world. The first DLC for this game is the Battle of Jakku. The Battle of Jakku will launch publicly on December 8th, 2015 and will feature two maps set on planet Jakku, preceding the events of Star War: The Force Awakens. However, if you pre-ordered this game then you will receive this DLC a week earlier, December 1st, 2015. The season pass for Star Wars: Battlefront is $50. IGN rated this game an 8 out of 10.
