Students and teachers alike have unique ways to pass the time. Clash Royale, Angry Birds, and Subway Surfers are among the most popular games to play on the john.

Every day, humans try to occupy themselves to avoid boredom. Even in smaller everyday tasks, humans try to find a way to have fun…even on the toilet. Some people may be browsing TikTok or Instagram to pass the time while sitting on the john.

Not only will you feel satisfied after using the bathroom, but you’ll also feel satisfied finishing an Angry Birds level. Everyone has a unique game to play on the toilet to pass the time. Benjie Pabon, a sophomore at Colonia High School stated, “Talking Tom is a great game to play on the toilet because of the minigames you can play within the app.”

Here are five of the most popular apps among teens to fill the time while on the porcelain throne.

TikTok

TikTok is a social media application that allows users to watch, create, and send short videos. Users can discover genres of their interest and like and comment on videos. Teens have used TikTok as an outlet to express themselves and connect with other creators.

Wallaroo finds that TikTok is available in over 150 countries, has over 1 billion users, and has been downloaded over 200 million times in just the United States alone.

TikTok is incredibly addicting because of its algorithm. Feedough states, “…the algorithm test out related but different content to see if you like that and to keep you interested.” The more you watch certain content, the more TikTok will give you similar content. Scrolling through the videos you love makes time go by sooner than you realize.

Nick Davila, a senior at Colonia High School questions the positive influence of the app. “It abuses the shortened attention span of the modern teenager through its incredibly short videos…the reason it works is that social media is geared towards instant gratification.”

Subway Surfers

Subway Surfers is a single-player game produced by Kiloo. The objective of the game is to outrun a train inspector while dodging oncoming trains and objects. Its mechanics are similar to Temple Run, another endless running game. You can collect rewards and coins in each run to use for future use. You can buy characters, power-ups, and hoverboards to use in the game.

It is claimed by Livemint that games can boost attention, improve cognitive skills, and keep us mentally in shape. It may be good for you to play certain games in moderation. In fact, there’s no real set beginning or end to the game which makes it easily replayable.

Angry Birds

Angry Birds is a franchise created by Rovio Entertainment. The series focuses on a flock of irritable birds who try to save their eggs from nasty green-colored pigs. In the game, the player must use a slingshot to launch the birds at pigs located in structures with the intent of destroying all the pigs.

As you progress through the game, the levels get challenging. As players advance through the game, they get the chance to play as different birds with special abilities. Over the years, Angry Birds became a huge success. It’s remarkable for its addictive style and somewhat strategic format. In fact, the franchise has spawned two movies.

Geometry Dash

Geometry Dash is best considered as a sidescroller. These are videogames that use a side-view camera angle for action viewing. They are usually with 2-D game characters moving from the left to the right side of the screen. In the game, the player must control the movement of a specific shape and travel through the level without hitting any obstacles. Players can also create their own levels and share them with others.

The game has 21 built-in levels and a currency system. Users can collect coins, stars, or diamonds. Players can collect items through custom levels, official levels, or maps. Levels can go up to anywhere from 10 to 120 seconds. What makes the game so addicting is its fast pace and obstacle-ridden gameplay.

Clash Royale

Clash Royale is a mobile game that pits players in 1v1 or 2v2 games in which the goal is to destroy the most opposing towers. Destroying the King’s Tower leads to an immediate win. Games normally last three minutes but can lead into two-minute overtime if both team’s towers haven’t been knocked.

Players are ranked by the number of trophies they have. Users can level up by gaining points through donating and upgrading cards. Furthermore, trophies are won or lost depending on the number of towers destroyed in a multiplayer game. There are 15 different arenas in the game, in fact, they each correspond to a certain trophy range.

Clash Royale also uses cards. Cards are the only method of deploying troops and spells onto the battlefield. There are different cards each with its own rarity. Cards can be obtained through gold or gems in the shop, or through chests. Some of the cards include knight, prince, goblin gang, night witch, etc.
